Ensure Your Baby Is Getting Enough Milk
What Is a Milk Transfer Evaluation?
Understanding how well your baby transfers milk during breastfeeding is essential for ensuring they are feeding effectively and thriving. At Newma Breastfeeding Center, our Milk Transfer Evaluation provides a thorough assessment of your baby’s feeding dynamics. Whether you’re concerned about slow weight gain, fussiness at the breast, or low milk supply, our Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) are here to help.
What to Expect During Your Evaluation
During a Milk Transfer Evaluation, our IBCLCs will:
Measure Pre- and Post-Feed Weights
Weigh your baby before and after breastfeeding to calculate the amount of milk transferred.
Assess Feeding Behaviors
Observe your baby’s latch, suck-swallow-breathe coordination, and feeding efficiency.
Identify Milk Supply Concerns
Evaluate whether milk supply meets your baby’s needs and address any supply challenges.
Examine Physical Barriers
Check for oral anatomy issues like tongue-tie or lip-tie that may hinder milk transfer.
Following the evaluation, we’ll provide personalized recommendations, including strategies to improve milk transfer, optimize latch, and address any supply issues. We may also collaborate with pediatricians or specialists if additional support is needed.
Why Choose Newma Breastfeeding Center?
Our IBCLCs are globally recognized experts in lactation care, offering compassionate, evidence-based support for families facing feeding challenges. We take a holistic, personalized approach to ensure that your baby gets the nourishment they need while empowering you with confidence and clarity.
